Royal Salute Coronation Cup at Guards Polo Club

July 25, 2016

SponsorsAnother classic British weekend for us, how very lucky we are, serving our finest tea and cakes to the discerning spectators of the prestigious Royal Salute Coronation Cup.

And what a game! As proud supporters of the England Polo Team we were cheering the awesome foursome all the way – there was all to play for in the sixth and final chukka, with England dominating as the clock ticked down.

Both James Beim, as Captain, and James Harper, in his Coronation Cup debut, managed to clear a goal each – but time was against them. With the bell ringing out and the scoreboard reading 12-11, it was victory to the Commonwealth!

As Polo +10 reports, this game has been considerd the showpiece for the sport’s governing body, the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) since the 1970s. Polo +10 go so far as to say that “such was the standard of play in this year’s match that Coronation Cup was said by many to be the best ever!” and we have to agree –  an excellent game under sunny blue skies with cakes and fine tea acting as the ultimate ‘cherry on top’!

We would like to echo the words of HPA Chairman, Stephen Hutchingson, by thanking “the captains and the players, as well as both coaches and all those behind the scenes, for their contribution to this important day for English polo.” as well as extending our thanks to the hard-working Hurlingham Polo Association and Guards Polo Club for hosting such a thrilling game.
