The Health Benefits of Hope & Glory Red Velvet Fruit Infusion

April 4, 2016

It seems that April is one of those months where the nasty viruses are in full attack mode! It makes sense then, that our Tea of the Month for April is our power-packed Red Velvet Fruit Infusion, often referred to as a fruit tea or tisane.

Our infusion includes Rosehips, Hibiscus & Orange Peel all of which offer huge health benefits with every cup.

rose-hips

Rose Hips

Rose hips are one of the best sources of vitamin C; they contain 50% more vitamin C than oranges! Because of the high vitamin C content they are an excellent immune system booster, and are often used as a supplement to prevent or treat a cold. Drinking rose hip tea daily will also benefit your skin as rose hips have a high vitamin A content. Vitamin A is commonly referred to as the “skin vitamin” because it helps to regenerate skin cells, healing wounds and scars. It also helps to keep the skin elastic and nourished, not only preventing wrinkles but can actually help to minimise any that have already appeared.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus

The health benefits of hibiscus tea include relief from high blood pressure and high cholesterol, as well as digestive, immune system, and inflammatory problems. It helps to cure liver disease and reduces the risk of cancer. It can also speed up the metabolism and help in healthy, gradual weight loss. Hibiscus tea is rich in vitamin C, minerals and various antioxidants, while also helping in the treatment of hypertension and anxiety.

Hibiscus tea contains vitamins and minerals like flavonoids which have antidepressant properties. Consumption of hibiscus tea can help to calm down the nervous system, and it may reduce anxiety and depression by creating a relaxed sensation in the body and mind.

Orangees

Orange

In recent research studies, the healing properties of oranges have been associated with a wide variety of phytonutrient compounds called Flavanones. One particular flavanone found in oranges is the herperidin molecule, which has been shown to lower high blood pressure as well as cholesterol in animal studies, and to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. Importantly, most of this phytonutrient is found in the peel and inner white pulp of the orange, rather than in its liquid orange center, so this beneficial compound is too often removed by the processing of oranges into juice but remains present when taken as part of a fruit infusion, like Hope & Glory Red Velvet.

Hope & Glory Red Velvet

A mouth-watering blend, this tisane is 100% organic and naturally caffeine free. Beautifully deep ruby red in colour with a zingy complexity of juicy orange and ripe berry fruit flavours, this tisane is always best served without milk.
